MONUMENT
The LNC Foundation is a non-profit Corporation formed for the purpose of preserving the history of Black education in Natchitoches Parish. The history of what happened and how the old ones struggled to purchase land to start a school in Natchitoches is worth saving for future generations. The LNC Foundation is marking the site where this took place. The site of the three schools is where the Ben Johnson Auditorium is currently located. The site is being marked with a Monument.
This Monument will be a historical site and will bring positive recognition to the community:
1. Economical improvements will take place around this Monument of tourism.
2. Gift shops and other businesses will grow up to provide items/food to Monument visitors.
3. In the future teachers will bring school children to the Monument as an educational outing.
4. An element of community pride will become a reality.
5. Older people will bring their grandchildren to see the Monument and show it with pride and joy. You can be a part of this effort by purchasing a brick, paver or plaque. You can make this purchase for yourself, you can honor a loved one, or an event.

Monument Objective:
The objectives of erecting a monument are:
1. To mark a site of significance in historical Natchitoches where the education of
African Americans began.
2. To honor the good works of our Forefathers and Foremothers who sacrificed so much to buy the land and build the first school. It was at this very location (where we now hold the reunions) that it all began and culminated in the opening of the first school for black children. This was in 1912.
Monument Status:
Phase I completed! Monument Dedication Ceremony was held at Reunion 2012 on July 6, 2012. The foundation has been installed. Bricks, pavers, and plaques are for sale!
